The Killary boat cruise is closed from 28th October to March 2014. Instead of this, we are delighted to offer a unique experience on a traditional working mountain farm. At the Killary Sheep Farm in the heart of Connemara, you can watch the farmer give a sheep dog demonstration, along with showing you how our ancestors cut 'Turf', a valuable source of natural fuel that is cut from the land and dried.

Connemara Day Tours are confident that we can make your dreams and expectations of Ireland be realised. We believe our tours are the very best on offer. They are hassle-free, informative and better value than anything else on offer, and most of all they are great "cráic" and show you a great time. Hop on our bus today and meet likeminded, inquisitive, fun travellers. Stay overnight in one of the most beautiful areas in Ireland and enjoy some excellent adventure activities.

Our two day adventure tour to Connemara transports you to see one of Ireland's 7 Wonders - 'Kylemore Abbey and Victorian walled garden' at the very western and wild side of Ireland. We show you the most breathtaking sights and scenery Connemara has to offer. Enjoy exhilarating adventures in Killary fjord! With the wild Atlantic on one side of you during the day and wild endless mountains on the other, you will feel so elated driving through this amazing place. This is one of only two places in Ireland where sheep have the right of way over cars on the road! In the morning and evening, you have to be careful driving as they tend to sleep on the main roads!

Connemara is one of the most beautiful and mysterious regions in Ireland. Its craggy mountains, loughs (lakes) and wild landscape will stay with you forever.

You will have the afternoon of your first day and the morning of your second day to experience an exhilarating adventure at Killary Adventures. Having spent the night and had breakfast at Leenane Hotel, you will have the morning to try another adventure before rejoining the Extreme Ireland tour bus and complete your Connemara tour.

We have the very best tour guides in the business with charming accents who will tell you tales of old and interesting Irish facts all day long! They will guarantee you will not want to get off the bus at the end of your magical day trip with us. Ah, sure, we may even join you for pint of the black stuff after the tour is over!

Join us on this fun filled journey to experience the very best that Connemara has to offer. Breathe the fresh air of the Atlantic and explore the many different shapes and rock formations that are shrouded in mystery and history. Can you draw up the courage of a lion to walk across one of Ireland's amazing bogs? Or maybe a leisurely stroll along the beautiful sweeping beach looking out on Killary Fjord is more your idea of heaven?

Before departing for Dublin, there is time to get acquainted with Galway town to see its heritage and cráic! The West Coast of Ireland is shrouded in history and has mystifying geology and on your two day tour to the Connemara and Galway with us you can experience it all.

Then return to Dublin that evening to reminisce about your exhilarating experience over a cool pint of the black stuff! On your travels with us we will fill you in on the history, folklore, and geology, along with all the current local information, and maybe the gossip, about the areas we visit. Our knowledgeable local guides will see to it that no question you have about your day tour to Connemara and Galway goes unanswered.

Depart from the old stone church on Suffolk St, Dublin 2. We will make our way west out of Dublin City, heading for Galway as our adventure begins.

Arrive in Galway for a short stop for coffee before hitting the coast road. If we have any passengers to pick up from Galway, we will be departing Galway city at 9:30 am.

We then take the very scenic road from Galway towards Oughterard, the gateway to Connemara, while passing through quaint villages on the way with views unmatched anywhere else in Ireland. Connemara is unique in the fact that it has no official boundaries to let you know that you are in Connemara, you just know you're there! Not far into our journey, you will get to stop at the famous bridge that was used in the Quiet Man film with John Wayne. Take a picture with your guide as they all think they are John Wayne!

Time to visit the only Fjord in Ireland: 'Killary Fjord'. Enjoy the views across the water of Mweelrea, the highest mountain range on the west coast and marvel at the mussel beds in the harbour. During the high season ( April - October ) this tour includes a one and a half hour boat cruise around Killary harbour. Your lunch stop will be on the boat during these months.  During the low season ( November - March ) the boat cruise does not run but instead we will visit the Killary Sheep Farm, a traditional farm with approximately 200 ewes and lambs that roam freely around the fjord. You will be given a skilled sheepdog demonstration and told about how the people and the livestock cope with the barren land and the harsh weather. You will also be given a demonstration on Turf cutting. Maybe turn a sod yourself!

After your farm visit / cruise,  you will be dropped off at K2, the HQ of Killary Adventures, where you will be taken off to experience your first adventure activity of this tour. A packed lunch is provided.

You will be collected from K2 and taken to the Leenane Hotel. Have supper there or venture into the village, meet some of the locals and enjoy some cráic at Gaynor’s or Hamilton’s pub.

Breakfast is at the Kylemore pass hotel and then you are free to explore your majestic surroundings for the morning. Remember to bring your bike back to the Lodge and then be ready to meet the bus at 12pm outside the Sheep and Wool Museum, please be there 10 minutes before the time.

We will travel through the fabulous Inagh Valley, which was featured in the mobile phone add "can you hear me now", a line every Irish person says when reception is poor. This is a beautiful area and if you can't get a good picture here, you can't get one anywhere! Next stop is "Kylemore Abbey", once a prestigious girls boarding school, it now homes nuns on retreat and welcomes tourists from everywhere around the world. The abbey is situated at the base of the Druchruach mountains with views out to the northern shore of Lough Pollacapall. You will be allotted sufficient time to enjoy the views, history and the pure beauty of this place.

Next on the list is the village of Leenane where the iconic film "The Field" was shot - a must see for any film buff. The story of the Bull McCabe captures the Irish mind set of the value of land above all things. From here, we will continue in a circular route towards Galway taking in views of the Sheefry Hills.

Spend an hour walking & sightseeing around Galway city before departing back for Dublin. Visit the main shopping district. Walk down to the busy harbour and see the Spanish Arch. Galway is a bohemian and happy city with a very young population. Home to the Claddagh Ring and 14 families, there is amazing history in this city. This was the last place Christopher Columbus visited before making his way over to the West Indies.
