Breakfast at the hotel.

Today we have a morning start; together with our guide we are taken to Pietroasa Monastery by car. You will reach Pietroasa Monastery, Pietrosu Peak and Tarnita La Cruce. In the evening you will experience a tent night (overnight in sleeping bags), and enjoy the guitar music.

Pietroasa Monasteryis located at the base of peak mountain Pietrosul Rodnei. It is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and its cornerstone was laid in 2007 by His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Maramures and Satu Mare. The settlement was founded by the nun Mihaela and her grandson, Constantine Drădean, who donated the land.

Pietrosul (or Pietrosu)is the highest peak of Rodnei Mountains (2303m), and also the highest point of the Carpathians' curve in between the High Tatras and Bucegi Mountains.
The mountain's name means "rocky", which refers to its different character from most of the other, predominantly grass-covered peaks of Rodnei Mountains (only the few highest ones have rocky tops and faces, Pietrosul being the most prevalent among them).

"Tarnita La Cruce"is the final point in the day's hiking tour, and the place where we camp.

Breakfast at the camping site.

After breakfast we start our descent route towards Puzdrele area. On the way back we admire Gargalau Peak and Spring of Bistrita Lake and then we return to our hotel, by car.

Gargalau Peak is the widest peak in the east part of main ridge of Rodna Mountains. It is a wonderful sightseeing summit that offers panoramic view not only over Rodna Mountains, but also over Maramures in the north.

Breakfast at the hotel.

We start the day by going to Viseul de Sus for boarding a special train, the Mocanita. Mocanita is the forestry narrow gauge steam train pulled by a steam locomotive. Vişeu de Sus is located in the East side of Maramureş County. Also known as "Mocăniţa” or Vaser Valley railway, the steam train track leads along the River Vaser and is the only mean of transport to the heart of Maramureş Mountains (protected area). Lunch will be served on the route.

After the Mocanita ride we admire: Bogdan Voda village, Dragomiresti village with Romanian Peasant Woman's Museum, the Wooden Church and Pottery workshop in Sacel, Moisei Monument and the Old Church in Borsa.

Bogdan Vodavillage reflects the beauty one feels in all of Maramureş Land. Its blonde haired, blue eyed children and young adults, its rolling hills tapestried from pastures and ploughs, and its hidden treasure troves of life behind the garden gates all reveal a slice of Maramures authentic rural life.

Romanian Peasant Woman's Museumis the first museum in the country dedicated exclusively to women. Here you can understand and see all peasants’ occupations from birth to passing away.

Later we go towards Sacel for a pottery workshop, where potters show you how to make a pot or any other object in clay. You can buy traditional ceramic products and souvenirs from here.

We continue with Moisei. Just 5 km from Borsa, lays Moisei, one of the first settlements that came under Hungarian administration in 1940. Here you will find the Heroes Mausoleum from Moisei. It was erected in the memory of those 29 Romanian patriots killed by the Hungarian troops during their retreat from the Northern Transylvania. The sculptor Vida Geza raised a series of 12 stone figures, 10 in the form of traditional Maramures masks and 2 others like human faces.
